Over the coming weeks, I am going to be providing recommendations of books that I think you should read
during the enforced lockdown that we all find ourselves in. Each book is one that I have enjoyed and,
in some cases, has influenced me in my own writing. Some titles will be familiar, some will not. At
any rate, I hope you enjoy.
Please feel free to comment or ask any questions and I’ll be glad to respond.

Released in 2002, Prey, like many of Crichton’s works, was technologically ahead of its time. It is
based around nano technology and starts off given the positive connotations of said technology,
only for the dangers that it can pose to come to the fore.
The main protagonist is Jack, a house husband, who as it transpires has an extensive knowledge of
nano technology. When his wife, who works for a large corporation who specialize in the
manufacture of nanobots, goes missing, Jack is drawn in to search for her, only to become embroiled in a
plot that could affect the entire human race.
The first time that I read this, I devoured it in two days, it is a page turner that you will not want to
put down. If you enjoy a thriller with plot twists galore, then I believe that this is the book for you.
Sadly, Michael passed away in 2008, so the world will no longer treated to his particular brand of
storytelling.
For me, he was one of the consummate storytellers, who could flawlessly describe science behind
his creations. Making science-fiction, feel like science-fact.
